Sorry for the late update - been busy!!
The Gala Day was a big success, we had lots of people attend and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The weather was very kind to us, the sun was shining all day.
We took a record amount towards our funds which enables us to carry on with our work of improving the area.
We were let down unfortunately by a few of the things we advertised. The Vikings were unable to attend due to illness, they had done an event the day before and some of their members had gone down with sunstroke due to the very hot weather and the costumes they have to wear. Luckily, the re-enactment group stepped into their shoes and did an excellent job, thanks very much to them stepping into the breach.
Wildlife In the City also were not able to attend doing the popular guided walks.
Also, the popular pancake stall couldn't come due to a family wedding.
However, there were still lots of things to entertain. We had a record number of stalls, lots of variety to tempt people into parting with their hard earned cash, many crafts with nice ideas for Christmas/birthday presents, plants, charity stalls such as Riding for Disabled, Lincs, Essex and Trent Boxer rescue and the popular WI ladies with their home made cakes which I can vouch for being delicious!! We also had some very good entertainment, The Crusader Bowman archery, displays by the re-enactment group and great groups playing.
The tombola was as popular as ever with people paying their money and going home with a prize every time.
Great fun family entertainment with something for everyone - come along to our next one which will be on Sunday July 6th 2014. - Put the date in your diary. Hope to see you there!!
